ADOPTION TIPS

Step 1: -- Gain a full understanding of what it means to adopt.
Bringing a new pet into your home should be a rewarding and wonderful experience. You can make sure it is by learning first what it means to be a pet owner. We have several online resources for the prospective pet owner.

The pet adoption checklist contains information about how to prepare for your new pet. The Pet Care & Advice section has a wealth of information for pet owners.

Step 2: -- Find the right pet for you.
Read the pet description. Spend some time with the animals at the shelter. Consult with the shelter staff.  They know the animals and can help to match you with the pet that's right for you, your family and home situation.

If you have other dogs at home, we recommend introducing them here at the Shelter before making the final decision to adopt.
