MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the High Desert Humane Society is to promote and to provide humane and ethical treatment of companion animals through shelter care, adoption, community education and programs which address pet over population.

FACILITIES

The High Desert Animal Shelter formerly The Grant County Humane Society, was completed in 1998. Some 3,000 square feet are devoted to living space for all the animals under our protection. Separate quarters are provided for adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, stray animals and quarantined animals. Outside dog runs are attached as is an outside kitty play yard and an outside puppy play area. Also on the property are a pet crematorium and a pet memorial garden.

Shelter staff occupy office space in the building.

To reach our facility from Silver City you travel South on Hudson to the intersection Hwy 90 South and Ridge Rd. Watch for the green Highway signs. There is a Chevron station on the SE corner. Make a right hand turn and we are the first driveway on the left. Look for the big sign.
